In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

"I swear by the time, Verily man is at a loss,
except those who believe and do good deeds, and exhort each other to truth, and exhort each other to endurance.

Ignite your Moral Awakening

Campaign I: A Call for Moral Awakening in Our Communities- A Campaign to Raise Awareness about the Israeli Aggression and its Consequences in the Middle East

Since 9/11, the Muslim Ummah in the North America and Europe has been through many crises and each time activists like you and I have complained about the apathy of our communities. The best example is the current crisis.

If there is anything we need to do first, it is to educate ourselves and raise moral awareness in our communities about the general circumstances of the Ummah and the current crisis in the Middle East. The purpose of this campaign is both to inform our people and to awake their moral conscience. Because information alone is usually not enough to produce collective actions; people must realize the severity of the situation. Similarly, realization of our plight without adequate information can lead to directionless actions. So, we need to focus on both of these aspects. Please do note that this campaign will require your patience and persistence over a long time.

Action Items !

  1. Jumah Action Days - Prepare large posters of images and concise information about the Middle East crisis. For next three weeks, delegate teams of activists with these posters to display them in front of all mosques and community centers in your area irrespective of their denominational or ethnic affiliations. Include pictures of the savage attacks on Lebanon, Palestine, and elsewhere by the state of Israel to shake people's conscience. Paste important information about the conflict and the real causes of the crisis. Also you can hand out concise leaflets to the brothers and sisters attending the Jummah prayers.

  2. Flash Presentation Nights - Prepare a 10 minute flash presentation (or PowerPoint) to show in your community's weekly programs and events. Include pictures of the crisis, quotes from leaders and scholars, and historical facts about the politics and aggression by the state of Israel.

  3. Weekly Prayer Gatherings - Connect yourselves and your community to God and the oppressed Lebanese and Palestinian people by holding prayer gatherings every week. Read Quran and Supplications and pray to God to relieve our people's suffering. Afterwards, sit and discuss about the political developments in the Middle East. Talk about what people in these gatherings can do to help in this crisis. You can combine these vigils with other action items, like the writing campaign in campaign 2.
Essential and other resources are available to help you in your campaigns.
